Gerda

Female · Young · 1 year

Date of Arrival: 23. 10. 2025 Identification Number: 111/2025 Gender: Female Birth: August 2025, neutered, FIV and FeLV negative Gerda was found with her brother Kai in Meziříček, where they had snuggled up to one house. Originally there were three, unfortunately one kitten met a tragic end when it got over the fence to a hunting dog. At the request of the finder, we took the remaining siblings in to prevent them from ending up the same way. Gerda is an excellent cat, not at all shy and immediately becomes the center of attention. Her friendly and affectionate nature will win you over in no time. She enjoys playing and snuggling, but even catnip toys are not foreign to her. She would love to find a wonderful family where she will be loved. Only as a pet, in an apartment or house with screened windows/balcony to ensure nothing happens to her. With a brother or at least another feline friend, as a lone cat she will not be happy. This animal needs to be the only pet in the home.

Její přátelská a mazlivá povaha si vás vmžiku získá. Ráda tráví čas hraním, mazlením, ale ani kotěcí lumpárny jí nejsou cizí. Ráda by našla prima rodinu, kde bude milována. Pouze jako domácí, v bytě či domě, se zasíťovanými okny/balkonem aby se jí nic nestalo. S bráškou nebo aspoň k jinému kočičího kamarádovi, jako jedináček nebude šťastná.

About Gerda

What life with Gerda looks like

Gerda is a young adult cat waiting at Mikes HB in Havlíčkův Brod.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gerda, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gerda?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Mikes HB handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gerda on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gerda if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Mikes HB will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gerda already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gerda isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Mikes HB early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gerda and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
