Gerrard

Male Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Gerrard is turning heads on every walk because he's an absolute hunk! This stunning lad is very friendly and loves to stop people to introduce himself, but he can sometimes get a little giddy. Gerrard walks nicely on his lead but if he spots something he wants to take a closer look at, he takes off and can be very strong, so best that he's walked by adults. He loves to chase after toys and happily brings them back, but giving them up is another matter! We're teaching him to drop and swap so we can keep the game going. When meeting other dogs, Gerrard does have mixed reactions and seems to be more comfortable around females. We know he has been good with them in his previous home so he may feel more comfortable once he's settled back into steady home life. Gerrard can live with high school aged children but needs to be the only pet, although he can walk with some dogs. He is house trained and has been good when left for an hour or two, but isn't used to being alone longer than that. Gerrard is currently receiving pain relief for hip pain and this may be ongoing.

About Gerrard

What life with Gerrard looks like

Gerrard is an adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Merseyside in Liverpool.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gerrard, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gerrard?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Merseyside handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gerrard on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gerrard if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Merseyside will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gerrard already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gerrard isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Merseyside early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gerrard and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
