adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Ghost is approximately nine years old and was brought to the Shelter Bistrița by the dog catchers. We do not know what he experienced before. However, his behavior suggests that his life has not been easy so far. Ghost unfortunately lives up to his name in every respect. For most of the time, he lies motionless in his hut, quiet and withdrawn. It often seems as though he has given up on life. Underlying this behavior is probably deep insecurity and a great inner exhaustion. But if given time, a much quieter side of him emerges. He now lets himself be enticed out of his hut with treats, albeit cautiously. He allows some touch interactions too. These are small steps that have a big meaning for Ghost, showing that he has not yet completely given up. Ghost is a dog who does not push himself forward. He observes a lot and keeps his distance. He needs people who can read him and do not expect anything from him. He will need time, perhaps even a lot of time. It is very likely that he will never become a typical family dog. Nevertheless, he deserves the chance to arrive at his own pace and build trust. As for his behavior with other dogs, we currently cannot say much. For him, safety is currently the top priority. Therefore, we are looking for a quiet home without chaos where Ghost can simply be himself. Ideal candidates would be people with dog experience or those willing to invest time understanding his needs. Ghost has never lived in a household. House training, leash manners, and being left alone are still unfamiliar to him. His future humans should be patient, provide clear and reliable structures, and accompany him with positive reinforcement. For a dog like Ghost, it is important to recognize and value even small progress. We wish Ghost a peaceful place, preferably in the countryside, with understanding people. A securely fenced garden can help him get used to things gradually but is not a requirement. Our impression is that with a bit of patience and the right attention, he could increasingly gain trust. Who can help with that? Ghost travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with his EU pet passport to his new home. After positive Also, an experienced foster home would be a great opportunity for him. Who gives this quiet, cautious male dog the chance to find trust in life again? Many thanks to Namesake Ricardo L., who gave Ghost his name and thus a new chance. Date: 02.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Still und zurückgezogen.

About Ghost

What life with Ghost looks like

Ghost is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ghost, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ghost?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ghost on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ghost if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ghost already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ghost isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ghost and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
