Gina

German Shepherd · Female · Adult · 4 years

Gina we took over from another animal shelter. Gina – a lively German Shepherd girl looking for her home. Gina is a friendly and very lively German Shepherd female. Given her age, she still has a lot of youthful energy – in character she can seem almost childlike at times and gets excited quickly. Gina is friendly and open toward people. At the same time, she still has a lot to learn and therefore needs people who can give her the necessary security and guidance with patience, consistency, and loving leadership. Dog experience should definitely be present. In principle, we can imagine a home with steady children for Gina. However, these children should know how to interact safely and respectfully with a larger, strong dog. We have not yet been able to reliably assess how Gina gets along with other dogs. A life together with another dog should therefore be tested individually and calmly. For Gina, we wish for an active, experienced home that enjoys working with her, gives her clear boundaries, and keeps her mentally and physically occupied. Anyone willing to learn together with Gina and give her the time she needs will gain a cheerful and lovable female dog by their side. With a German Shepherd there is, as a breed-related matter, a risk of hip joint problems or hip dysplasia (HD), which can become relevant especially in old age. Prospective adopters should be aware of this possible health burden. Gina is looking for people with dog experience, patience, and enjoyment of an active, eager-to-learn dog. We very much hope she will soon find her suitable home. Depending on the animal and its size, monthly costs range between 30 and 120 euros – plus bowls, beds, leashes, or a scratching post. Vaccinations, deworming, and preventive care are plannable. An operation or dental treatment is not. For dogs, dog tax and liability insurance are added. Both are mandatory, and both are manageable – but they should be planned for. Write us an email at or call us at . We look forward to hearing from you.

About Gina

What life with Gina looks like

Gina is an adult german shepherd dog waiting at Tierheim Wipperfürth in Wipperfürth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Wipperfürth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Wipperfürth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Gina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Wipperfürth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
