Gingerbread

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 6 months

Meet Gingerbread! This little lady can be wary when you first meet her but once she knows you she is incredibly affectionate. If she isn't curled up on your lap then she will be snuggled up beside you making biscuits as she enjoys lots of fuss and love. Although friendly, Gingerbread can be wary and would be best suited living with sensible older school aged children who will understand that she will need some time to settle into her new home before she is ready to make friends. If the home is calm and quiet then Gingerbread should be fine to settle into a spare room with all her resources close by and plenty of cosy hiding places in case she gets scared. Gingerbread is a young lady with lots of energy and will need outside access once settled so she can run around and explore. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Gingerbread, you can e-mail our rehoming team on () to register your interest. the cat you have contacted us about.

About Gingerbread

What life with Gingerbread looks like

Gingerbread is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gingerbread, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gingerbread?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gingerbread on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gingerbread if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gingerbread already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gingerbread isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gingerbread and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
