We assume that, due to his appearance and beautiful champagne-colored coat, Giovanni is often “underestimated” as a Labrador or even Golden Retriever mix. But that’s not the case at all. He’s a very sweet dog—but one who is highly independent and self-determined. We took him from a friendly animal welfare organization. His previous history is unknown. At first, he was quite calm with us and probably just overwhelmed by his new surroundings. He’s been with us since mid-January 2023. Since he’s a very sturdy fellow, he needs owners who can set loving yet consistent boundaries, stand their ground, and are physically up to the task of handling him. His new owners must be confident and capable when interacting with him—then he’ll truly be an amazing companion. Our shelter manager has absolutely no issues with him. But if he senses that people aren’t consistent, he’ll start playing very roughly—and there can even be bruises. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and tends to take the lower-ranking position in the pack. However, cats are absolutely not his thing. He’s such a wonderful guy! Where are the right people for him? 💖🍀

Wir nehmen an, dass Giovanni aufgrund seines Aussehens und des schönen champagnerfarbenen Fells oft als Labrador- oder auch Golden-Retriever-Mix „unterschätzt“ wird. Das ist aber nicht der Fall. Er ist ein sehr netter, aber sehr selbstbestimmter Hund. Wir haben ihn von einem befreundeten TSV übernommen. Seine Vorgeschichte ist unbekannt. Am Anfang war er bei uns noch recht ruhig und wahrscheinlich erst mal von der neuen Umgebung beeindruckt. Er ist seit Mitte Januar 23 bei uns. Da er ein sehr kräftiges Kerlchen ist, braucht er Halter, die ihm liebevoll aber konsequent Grenzen setzen, sich durchsetzen können und ihm auch körperlich gewachsen sind. Seine neuen Halter müssen souverän mit ihm umgehen, dann ist er ein traumhafter Hund. Unsere Tierheimleiterin hat überhaupt keine Probleme mit ihm. Aber wenn er merkt, dass Menschen inkonsequent sind, spielt er sehr grob und es gibt auch blaue Flecke. Mit anderen Hunden ist sehr gut verträglich und geht eher den unteren Weg. Katzen sind allerdings überhaupt nicht sein Ding. Er ist so ein toller Kerl. Wo sind die richtigen Leute? 💖🍀
