Godiva

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Happy Strahlemaus is looking for her people. Godiva has been waiting for some time in a Spanish animal shelter—why, we unfortunately don't know. However, the friendly dog is not discouraged by this. At about 60 cm in shoulder height, she is smaller and lighter than the typical Mastín giants, but she matches them in terms of kindness. Godiva shows herself in the animal shelter as an incredibly loving, open, and affectionate dog. She enjoys every form of attention, seeks contact with humans, and happily gives little kisses. What she experienced in her previous life is unknown. She loves the rare walks and enjoys every second of them. She is generally compatible with other dogs and is always up for a play session. She may not yet be familiar with life in a house, but she will surely learn it easily. She brings the best prerequisites for this: kindness, curiosity, and the desire to do everything right. For Godiva, we wish a home in the countryside, ideally with a well-fenced garden where she can move safely. Long walks, loving attention, and a family life in which she can belong—this would make her truly happy. A nice dog friend with whom she can play would certainly please her. If you would like to give Godiva a home or help her with a foster care spot, please contact her adoption officer. Here is Godiva's video.

About Godiva

What life with Godiva looks like

Godiva is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Godiva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Godiva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Godiva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Godiva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Godiva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Godiva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Godiva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
