Gordito

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Gordito originally came from Slovakia and was given to us from a seizure in Basel. Until he finds a new home, he is staying at a foster home in the dog shelter Grisette. Gordito is a very friendly, open, and people-oriented little puppy. He is interested and gets along well with fellow animals. Gordito needs loving people who will adopt him as a family member, take him to dog training classes, and teach him the basics of being a dog. If you are interested, you should first inform and inquire about the regulations for dogs like Gordito in your canton of residence. Gordito is vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to be rehomed. For more information, pictures, and videos about Gordito, visit the website of the dog shelter Grisette: Gordito . If you are interested in our dogs and would like to meet them informally, apply using the button below, and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can also request an informal application form from the dog shelter Grisette where Gordito is currently housed: if there is an answering machine, please leave a message, they will call you back, or you can contact them via email: info@grisette.ch . We appreciate your understanding if the processing of your request takes a little longer. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible. This is a young, adolescent dog.

DE·Show original

About Gordito

What life with Gordito looks like

Gordito is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gordito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gordito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gordito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gordito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gordito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gordito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gordito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
