Adopt Goya

Male · Adult · 8 years

Hometown: Hungary The beautiful Goya arrived as a found dog at the animal shelter on March 27, 2023. He was found wandering around the community of Csemö homeless and reported to the animal shelter. As expected, he was not microchipped, nor had anyone reported him missing. We do not know whether Goya was abandoned or ran away from home. In any case, another wonderful four-legged friend is waiting to be discovered by loving people who will care for his new life and make him happy. Goya is a friendly, strong, and affectionate four-legged friend. He loves cuddles, is happy when you engage with him, which is often lacking with so many dogs. On the leash, he already runs well, but is certainly still trainable. He needs to learn some dog manners and perhaps sit a bit more, so he has some catching up to do. He wants to be mentally and physically challenged and do a lot with his new people. Even playing a round of fetch would make Goya happy, just to have a great time with his people and share experiences together. For our wonderful Goya, we are looking for lovers and enthusiasts of these dogs, people who are up for adventure and can lovingly but consistently care for Goya. Dear two-legged beings, who show Goya how wonderful a dog life can be when loved and cared for, and who give him security and guidance and accept him as a full-fledged family member. He has more than earned it. On May 7, 2023, a shelter worker writes: Goya is an extremely active dog. This is no surprise for his breed. He is still young, and with consistent training, he can become anything. Dog training classes can be very helpful. He likes to play ball. He has a high prey drive, so he should not be around small animals. His relationship with other dogs is still unknown, but he runs on the leash. On May 7, 2023, a mentor writes: Goya was taken for his first walk by his mentor. He excitedly waited in his pen and started his journey very actively. After some time, he sniffed curiously and picked up the "speed" again. He runs nicely on the leash. When he rested during the walk, he received many cuddles, kissed his mentor, and the wagging continued. He is people-oriented, kind. He also likes to play ball, which is a good way to move him. Goya is waiting for his new owner, who wants to move permanently into his home, which offers security. He expects respect, patience, consistent upbringing based on praise. For those who live an active lifestyle. The need to train must be covered. The most important thing is that they love him, take very good care of him, and never leave him. Good luck, dear Goya. On July 5, 2024, a volunteer Hungarian helper writes: "Goya has lived in the animal shelter for more than a year. Last year, we had the opportunity to get to know him at a mentor day, when his mentors took him for a walk. He walked nicely on the leash, tried to follow, and listened to his handler. Active, curious, enthusiastic, full of energy. He wants to learn and gain experiences—with his new owner and his family. Because of his high energy level, it is difficult for him to wait in his pen. We now had the opportunity to become friends on the play area. He was friendly and kind to people. He was happy when he was stroked, pampered, cared for, and tended to. Goya is waiting for his new owner and his new family. He longs for a safe home where he will be loved and respected, and his need for movement and knowledge will be satisfied. He would also like to go to dog training classes and learn with his owner. Regular daily walks, lots of movement, and playful exercises are necessary for Goya. He does not want to be a garden ornament. He asks for praise-based training and patience during the adjustment period. Who makes Goya happy? Goya is ready to travel. Unfortunately, Goya does not get along with other dogs, so we are searching for a needle in a haystack for a new home.

About Goya

What life with Goya looks like

Goya is a adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Goya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Goya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Goya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Goya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Goya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Goya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Goya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
