Adopt Brioche

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Named after his appearance, Brioche was given his name. He was surrendered to us for private reasons and is now looking for his new home. Very typical of a young dog, Brioche is a very curious and cheerful male dog. He has the opportunity to explore the world with our animal caretakers and may also join a Social Walk occasionally. With other dogs he is very open on the lawn, but in his crate he becomes quite distant and jealous, so we do not want to place him with other dogs. We wish for Brioche a home with experienced people who know what they want. He likes to question rules and shows "terrier-like" hunting ambitions. On walks, Brioche shows interest and sometimes already orientates well towards humans, as we train with him diligently. Attending dog training classes is mandatory for new owners, as he did not enjoy it before. Small children should not live in the same household. Brioche loves to snuggle and is very open and friendly towards all people. However, he also shows very direct and sometimes controlling behavior. We are working hard with Brioche on his impulse control and frustration tolerance, which must be continued. He also tends to develop resource guarding if allowed. A muzzle training is also practiced diligently. At all points, the animal care staff works as well as possible within the animal shelter. He came to us with a severe skin inflammation and Demodex mites, which were treated and his skin looks normal now. He receives special food as an exclusion diet is being conducted to check if he suffers from a food allergy. It should be noted that Brioche is considered a restricted dog in some cantons as a Staffordshire Bullterrier mixed breed. If you are interested, please fill out the dog application form. Rasse: Staffordshire Bullterrier Mischling Gewicht: 24 kg Zuchtland: Rumänien Aufenthaltsort: Schweiz Geschlecht: männlich, unkastriert Geburtsdatum: 08.01.2025 Im Tierheim seit: November 2025

About Brioche

What life with Brioche looks like

Brioche is a medium-sized young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur in Switzerland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brioche, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brioche?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brioche on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brioche if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brioche already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brioche isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brioche and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
