Gucio

Mixed Breed · Male

One of the happiest dogs at the animal shelter - Gucio. He is a very young, lovely dog. One can notice a resemblance to a Tibetan spaniel, both in appearance and character. He greatly enjoys human contact, loves affection, and spending time together is very important to him. However, one simply has to earn his friendship, to get to know him. He is sensitive, but also stubborn. He does not want his space to be forced upon. He can defend his immediate surroundings, which may have a basis in the genetics of Tibetan spaniels, but it could also be due to how he lived before he came to the animal shelter. Unfortunately, he led the life of a chained dog. We do not know how he was treated, but the mere fact that his entire living space was the length of a chain could cause defensive reactions. Since Gucio came to the animal shelter (in July 2022), he has been under the care of a behaviorist. We have learned how to deal with him so that he does not have to defend himself against us, and we have had many successes in this. We respect his needs, understand his fears, and try to understand their basis. The relationship between Gucio and other dogs can be described as simply ideal. The guy fits in very well with his canine companions. He is friendly, does not impose himself, and can read the signals sent by other dogs very well. Gucio knows how to walk on a leash, and we joyfully watch how much pleasure he gets from walks. Is Gucio already ready for adoption? It seems so. However, we are certain that he will not be adopted from one day to the next. Gucio and his new family should still build a bond at the animal shelter. Learn about each other, listen to the dog, and read the signals he sends us. Mutual understanding and respect will result in a beautiful friendship.

Jeden z najweselszych psiaków w schronisku - Gucio. To młodziutki, śliczny pies. Wzajemne zrozumienie i szacunek zaowocują piękną przyjaźnią.

About Gucio

What life with Gucio looks like

Gucio is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gucio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gucio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gucio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gucio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gucio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gucio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gucio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
