Halik

Mixed Breed · Male

Beautiful, smart eyes looking at a person - this is the first thing you can notice when looking at Halik. However, after a while, you can see that behind these beautiful eyes lies a lot of sadness. Halik in his barely several years of life has unfortunately already experienced what abandonment, fear, and constant stress are. He came to the animal shelter in March 2021. At first, he kept people at a distance, was very alert. The first few months of our acquaintance were devoted to showing Halik that he could trust us. It worked, but it did not happen from one day to the next. Halik is a dog who needs time to get used to new acquaintances. However, we promise that it is worth spending time with him. How can we describe Halik today? Thanks to the great work of volunteers, he has changed completely! He likes to be among people, and with his favorite caregivers, he becomes a real cuddler. Halik presents his back for petting, jumps up with his front paws onto knees. We can proudly say that a person has become really important to him. A walk with Halik is one of the most pleasant in the animal shelter. The guy loves walking and it must be admitted that he walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys every moment spent outside the kennel. He is very intelligent, looks and character resembles a dog from a tracking chain. Great pleasure is given to him by scent games, also his future family should take care of his mental entertainment. But that's not all - our guy has more qualities. He finds his way well in buildings, is clean, calm. He can communicate the need for a walk. He is a very good passenger. He is not scared by street traffic, he is great in the city. We are looking for an experienced, responsible home that will be able to give him time and space to be himself freely. Only such a one who will love him as he is. Halik is ready for adoption. Now he is waiting impatiently for his, rightful people.

Trafił do schroniska w marcu 2021 r.

About Halik

What life with Halik looks like

Halik is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Halik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Halik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Halik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Halik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Halik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Halik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Halik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
