Halvar

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Halvar has arrived in his foster home and shows there that a very special dog lives within him. This approximately 7-year-old male dog has likely not experienced much goodness in his previous life. Accordingly, he initially shows himself to be shy, sensitive, and reserved. Despite his uncertainties, however, Halvar is an exceptionally loving and gentle dog who shows no aggression. In his foster home, Halvar is already making beautiful progress. He strongly orientates himself to his primary caregiver as well as the existing only dog and gradually gains in security. Especially in the protected space – for example, in the bedroom – he can already relax well, allows himself to be touched, and even enjoys cautious snuggle sessions. Upon greeting him upon coming home or during feeding time, Halvar now also shows his joyful side. His trust is growing slowly but steadily. Putting on the harness lets him do well, and he has also shown himself to be very obedient and patient at the vet. On the leash, he makes daily small progress and becomes more secure. Additionally, he now reacts quite well to his name. Halvar is very compatible with other dogs and benefits significantly from an assertive only dog that he can orient himself to. Such a dog should therefore be present in the new home. For Halvar, we wish for a quiet, more rural home with experienced and sensitive people who can give him the time he needs and not overwhelm him. Patience, understanding, and a secure framework are the key to building more trust. Halvar is a quiet, sensitive dog who does not want to be in the spotlight but simply wants to be accepted. Whoever gives him this chance will be rewarded with a loyal companion who shows step by step how much is in him. Halvar can be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and come with an EU pet passport to his new home. He will be ready to move after a positive home check. Many thanks to Silvie S.! You have given Halvar his name and thus an identity! A big thank you also goes to Jutta B., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Halvar. As of: 14.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! In seiner Pflegestelle macht Halvar bereits schöne Fortschritte. About Halvar

What life with Halvar looks like

Halvar is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Halvar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Halvar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Halvar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Halvar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Halvar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Halvar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Halvar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
