A male dog around 7 years old, medium size Hammer, is one of those dogs that stays in your heart from the first glance, not for his strength or his imposing size, but for his story. A tough story, but today it speaks of rebirth. When he was rescued, Hammer was a shadow of himself: battered, malnourished, dehydrated, emaciated, a body that told of suffering and abandonment. He was so fragile that it seemed a breath was enough to make him fall. Yet, in his eyes there was still a spark: the desire to trust, to start over. The veterinarians examined him thoroughly, and, against all expectations, all the tests were negative. No disease, no serious pathology: just extreme malnutrition and a lot of dehydration. Hammer was not sick: he was neglected. From that day his rebirth began. A recovery that moves. Today Hammer is changing before our eyes. Every day he gains some weight, his coat becomes shiny, his gaze more alive. He discovered that the world can be good, that hands can caress and not just hurt. And he also discovered a great passion: balls. He loves them, he plays with enthusiasm, like a puppy recovering lost time. He is sweet, affectionate, grateful. A dog who, despite everything, has not lost the ability to love.

Una storia dura, che però oggi parla di rinascita. Quando è stato recuperato, Hammer era l’ombra di sé stesso: malconcio, denutrito, disidratato, emaciato, un corpo che raccontava sofferenza e abbandono. Era così fragile che sembrava bastasse un soffio per farlo cadere. Eppure, nei suoi occhi c’era ancora una scintilla: la voglia di fidarsi, di ricominciare. I veterinari lo hanno visitato a fondo e, contro ogni aspettativa, tutti i test sono risultati negativi. Nessuna malattia, nessuna patologia grave: solo un’estrema denutrizione e tanta, troppa disidratazione. Hammer non era malato: era stato trascurato. Da quel giorno è iniziata la sua rinascita. Un recupero che commuove Oggi Hammer sta cambiando a vista d’occhio. Ogni giorno mette su un po’ di peso, il pelo torna lucido, lo sguardo più vivo. Ha scoperto che il mondo può essere buono, che le mani possono accarezzare e non solo far male. E ha scoperto anche una grande passione: le palline. Le adora, ci gioca con entusiasmo, come un cucciolo che recupera il tempo perduto. È dolce, affettuoso, riconoscente. Un cane che, nonostante tutto, non ha perso la capacità di amare.
