Adopt Hannibal

Mixed Breed · Male

Hello, I am Hannibal, unfortunately, I can no longer stay in my current home. Here, I have everything I need... a run, plenty of food, my hens, really, everything a happy rooster needs. But, I guard my hens so well that the children in the family now have fear of me when I chase them out of my pen and from my hens. However, I can train to change this behavior. Then, you can enter my pen and take the eggs from my hens. But I notice precisely who I can change my behavior with and who I can chase away. Therefore, my new home should be with experienced keepers or there should be no small children there who want to "steal" the eggs from my girls. So, please sign up soon at the animal shelter so that I can move to a new home with new hens.

Hallo, ich bin der Hannibal, leider kann ich nicht länger in meinem jetzigen Zuhause bleiben. Hier habe ich zwar alles was ich brauche.... Auslauf, reichlich Futter, meine Hennen, eigentlich alles was ein glücklicher Hahn braucht.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hannibal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hannibal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hannibal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hannibal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hannibal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hannibal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hannibal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
