adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Harper has found her home! Her story: The sweet Harper is not yet long in our care, but in this short time she has already won many hearts with her fine and calm nature. At first, she was somewhat shy, but one could see how much she sought proximity and liked to bond with people. We became aware of the approximately 1-year-old Harper when she repeatedly appeared at the edge of the village near several houses and there gave birth to her puppies Francesca and Eloise. Some neighbors fed her, others threatened her – for the little family, this place was therefore dangerous. Fortunately, we were able to secure the three of them and place them in our private shelter in Fantanele, where they now wait for people who will forever change their lives. Visually, Harper is a beautiful mixed-breed female dog with warm, light brown fur and a slightly darker snout. At about 46 cm shoulder height and around 12–13 kg, she has an ideal size for all kinds of adventures – whether walks, outings, or small restaurant visits, but also to make herself comfortable on the sofa for extended cuddle sessions. When you engage with Harper, she becomes very gentle, sniffs curiously, and accepts cuddles gratefully. She can be easily lifted, walks already with a collar and leash, and works cooperatively – great prerequisites to continue working on the dog basics with her. For Harper, we are looking for a loving home where she will feel that she has finally arrived and can relax. She needs her favorite people, both to navigate the exciting phase of puberty together and to gradually discover new everyday situations that will strengthen her confidence. She gets along very well with other dogs and lives problem-free in a pack, which is why we also see Harper as a good second dog. Whether she likes cats, we do not know. Who recognizes the magical Harper as a special female dog and has a foster home or even a dog bed for her forever? Many thanks to the community that has taken over the naming sponsorship. As of: 03.04. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 03.04.2026

About Harper

What life with Harper looks like

Harper is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
