Harry

Bichon Frisé · Male · Adult · 5 years

Once settled, Harry is a lovely little dog who enjoys companionship and likes being close to the people he trusts. While he can initially be a little unsure of unfamiliar people, patience and reassurance help him quickly gain confidence, allowing his sociable and loving nature to come to the forefront. Harry enjoys toys and play, which have helped him build confidence and engage with the people around him. He walks nicely on lead, appears to be house trained, and has no known concerns with routine handling. He has previously been comfortable with grooming and veterinary visits, although his new family should be prepared for the regular coat care his beautiful fluffy coat requires. Harry also has a history of sensitive skin, so his adopters should be mindful of this and continue any appropriate care and monitoring. He is looking for adopters who can offer him a predictable routine, plenty of reassurance, and the chance to settle into home life at his own pace. Harry may not be the type of dog who rushes up to greet everyone he meets, but for those willing to give him a little time, he is a gentle and rewarding companion with so much love to give. We can't wait to see Harry enjoying all the comfort, companionship and security that comes with finding his forever home. Harry is a handsome 5-and-a-half-year-old Bichon Frise cross Pomeranian looking for a calm and understanding home. This sweet little lad can be a little cautious when meeting new people and may need a little time to find his feet, but once he feels comfortable, his friendly and affectionate personality soon shines through. Harry has previously lived in a home environment and enjoys being part of family life. He gets on well with other dogs and has lived successfully with a canine companion before. During his time with us, he has shown plenty of interest in other dogs and has mixed nicely with them, so he could potentially live with another compatible dog pending successful introductions. As Harry has not lived with cats before, we would recommend a cat-free home. Although Harry has not lived with children before, he has been around them without any concerns. He could potentially live with children of secondary school age and above who can understand when he may need a little space and allow him to settle and build confidence at his own pace. Harry would suit adopters who are happy to let him approach new situations in his own time and continue building his confidence through positive experiences.

About Harry

What life with Harry looks like

Harry is a adult bichon frisé dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Harry, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Harry?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Harry on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Harry if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Harry already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Harry isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Harry and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
