adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Hazel has found a home! Their story: The 7 siblings Balthasar, Pumpkin, Freya, Hunter, Aira, Hazel, and Rike were just saved from certain death. They were found in the middle of a busy street and were on the verge of freezing to death. If they had been found just a little later, they might not have been alive. The loving finders contacted our local helpers and helpers immediately, and they did not hesitate. Now, the little ones can recover at the public shelter in Bistrita, receive medical treatment, and get all necessary vaccinations so they can start their search for a home! Hazel stands out with their sweet gaze and round, big eyes, with which they wrap everyone at the shelter around their paw. Puppy-like, she shows a friendly, playful side and loves to cuddle. She likes to run around with her siblings or let herself be stroked by the caretakers and caretakers at the shelter. We cannot rule out that Hazel may bring herding or stove protection traits. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home for her that already has experience with these traits or is willing to learn about them and, above all, can provide the optimal conditions. Herding dogs are not city dogs. They should rather live in the countryside, and a garden would be great, with little or no visitors or changing people. They are also not suitable for taking to the office. Herding dogs bring great traits. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breeds, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Their new family should also be aware that Hazel has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is still ahead of her. She needs people who can approach with love and patience, and may even need to attend positive dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Hazel will definitely become a great lifelong companion. Hazel is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Annchristin! You named Hazel. Date: 31.01.

Vielen Dank an Annchristin! Du hast Hazel Ihren Namen geschenkt. About Hazel

What life with Hazel looks like

Hazel is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hazel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
