Hazel

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 8 months

Hazel's story begins with a sad departure she certainly didn't choose for herself. The young female dog was abandoned near the shelter and left to fend for herself. We don't know where she lived before or why no one wanted to care for her anymore. Suddenly, Hazel was alone and had to navigate a completely new situation. Luckily, she was discovered and taken in. She is safe now, but a shelter can't replace a home. And Hazel has a lot to offer her humans. She is friendly, loving, and people-oriented, enjoying attention and affection. She gets along well with other dogs and is compatible. Hazel has not met cats yet, so we can't assess her compatibility with them at the moment. Visually, Hazel is a beautiful, fluffy young female dog who already has a proud appearance. Her attentive and loyal gaze immediately catches your eye. She observes carefully what's happening around her, and her expressive eyes give her a special presence. At about 56 cm shoulder height, Hazel is already one of the larger female dogs. Visually, Hazel is reminiscent of a Malinois mix. If there is indeed a corresponding proportion in her, we would like to find people who enjoy not only exercising her paws but also her head. Malinois are considered intelligent, eager to learn, and active dogs that enjoy working with their humans. Extended walks, later perhaps joint jogging sessions, nose work, search games, or tracking could be ways to meaningfully exercise Hazel physically and mentally. It's not about constantly providing action: rest, relaxation, and the right amount of exercise are just as important, especially for a young dog. At eight months, Hazel is in an exciting development phase. She may not yet know the life in a loving family and many things that are self-evident to us must be learned. Housebreaking, leash training, and learning to stay alone may be foreign words for Hazel. Her future humans should therefore be willing to explain the new daily routine to her step by step and not expect everything to work perfectly from day one. And then of course there is puberty, which is in full swing for Hazel. During this time, an excellently functioning dog ear can suddenly switch to standby mode, boundaries are tested, and yesterday's learning seems to be forgotten again today. An intelligent young female dog can certainly develop her own creative ideas. Hazel therefore needs people who remain friendly, clear, and consistent and convey security and orientation to her without losing patience. A positively working dog school would be a great opportunity for Hazel to learn together with her humans. At the same time, it can be looked at which form of employment she enjoys the most. Because Hazel doesn't just want to be physically moved, she wants to understand, learn, and experience something together with her humans. Hazel is just at the threshold from puppy to adult female dog. Behind her is the experience of being simply abandoned. In front of her could be a completely different life: with people who promote her, give her peace, experience adventures with her, and above all promise her that she can stay this time. After a successful pre-check and against the assumption of a deposit, Hazel can be castrated, chipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-free in her new home. She brings her EU pet passport with her. Who doesn't see in Hazel's attentive gaze not only a beautiful female dog but a future partner with whom you can go through life together? Thank you to Lina S. You have given Hazel a name and thus the chance of a new life. Status: 07.10.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Hazel

What life with Hazel looks like

Hazel is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hazel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hazel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hazel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hazel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Hazel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hazel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hazel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
