Adopt Heinrich

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Profile Age: born around August 2025. Gender: male. Neutered: no. Character: very friendly, typical puppy playful. Size: growing, becoming medium-sized. In shelter since: February 2026. Hello dear people! I'm Heinrich. I still remember what it was like to be alone. The street was noisy, cold and way too big for such a small guy like me. I was scared. Every shadow, every sound made me flinch. I was tired, hungry and didn't know where to go. My family... I don't know where they are. Maybe I lost them - or they lost me. When they found me, I was weak. My little body had some wounds and I had almost no strength left. But I was lucky. Big luck. I was seen and rescued. The people who found me took me with them and took care of me. I learned again that hands can be gentle. That you can get full. That you can lie down without fear. Thanks to good care I became stronger and every day I felt a little better. Now I am ready! I live here with other puppies and get along well. I play, I explore the world and sometimes I even forget how hard everything was at the beginning. But when it gets quiet, I wish for more. A home of my own. A person who sees me and says, "You belong to me." I am still young. My life is ahead of me. I want to learn to love, to trust. I want to arrive. When you look into my eyes, you might still see a little bit of the fear from those days. But above all, you see hope. Do you want to be my person, the one I can bond with? Do you want to take me out of here and bring me to you? Then please contact us! I'm waiting for you! Interested? If you are interested in Heinrich, please fill out our interest form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Heinrich is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs are neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed and have an EU passport. Furthermore, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is performed on dogs over 12 months before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis and leishmaniasis. Kim W. has taken on the sponsorship of Heinrich and thus ensures a filled bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Heinrich

What life with Heinrich looks like

Heinrich is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heinrich, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heinrich?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heinrich on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heinrich if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heinrich already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heinrich isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heinrich and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
