Heinrich

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Senior · 14 years

Heinrich, born around September 2011 and neutered, is indeed a black tomcat, but his color should not be a disadvantage. He is generally a very nice cat. During the initial meeting, Heinrich quickly shows whether he likes someone. Then he will snuggle his head against that person. If he wants something, he does so by giving a pleading meow. The only drawback of Heinrich is his sensitive digestive system, so he will likely need special food and a medication in the long term. However, even with special food and medication, occasional diarrhea may still occur. Also, Heinrich should be kept exclusively in the house and given "feline" attention. We hope that special cat lovers will find him and give this poor tomcat a loving home despite his problem.

About Heinrich

What life with Heinrich looks like

Heinrich is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Brunn am Gebirge in Brunn am Gebirge.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Heinrich, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Heinrich?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Brunn am Gebirge handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Heinrich on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Heinrich if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Brunn am Gebirge will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Heinrich already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Heinrich isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Brunn am Gebirge early rather than rehoming privately; they know Heinrich and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
