Helmut&Heinz

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 5 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now meet Heinz and Helmut! Their story: Heinz and Helmut are two adorable young tomcats looking for a loving home. Heinz has black fur, while Helmut is black and white spotted. The two are about two and a half months old and exhibit typical behavior for their age: they are playful, cheerful, and cuddly. They get along well with both adults and children. One of our animal welfare workers found the brothers in a very busy city area. Although their background is unknown, they clearly show that they are accustomed to human proximity. The brothers get along well with other cats and therefore will only be rehomed together. Their compatibility with dogs is still unknown. A walk outside would be possible in a secure environment after an appropriate period of acclimatization. Starting in September, Heinz and Helmut will be ready to move into their new home and bring joy to a loving family. Before the sweet boys move in, they, like all our cats and tomcats, will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. They have already tested negative for FIV and FeLV and will also pack their EU pet passport. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Helmut&Heinz

What life with Helmut&Heinz looks like

Helmut&Heinz is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Helmut&Heinz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Helmut&Heinz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Helmut&Heinz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Helmut&Heinz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Helmut&Heinz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Helmut&Heinz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Helmut&Heinz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
