adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Henning was brought to the Public Shelter in Baia Mare by the Animal Police. We do not know what he experienced before. Perhaps he had to survive alone for a long time, or perhaps he had bad experiences with people. Only one thing is certain: trust came to him very slowly. The approximately 4-year-old male dog, with a shoulder height of around 40 cm, belongs to the small to medium-sized breeds. Henning is a handsome dog with black, soft fur and a small white chest spot that forms a nice contrast. His particularly noticeable warm, amber eyes give him an attentive and cautious look. His slender build, fine floppy ears, and gentle expression give him an elegant and very touching presence. At the shelter, Henning has already made important progress. He is no longer as distant as he was at the beginning and shows much more interest in people. Now he also wants to be petted and allows closeness when he has gained trust. At the same time, he still needs his retreat options and decides for himself when closeness is pleasant. In some moments, he seeks contact, in others, he needs distance – this should be respected. Henning is therefore not a dog for beginners. He should be rehomed with experienced people who understand his body language, can give him security, and are ready to let him come at his own pace without pressure. It is currently not possible to assess how he will get along with other male dogs, but he gets along well with females. A new home will be a significant adjustment for Henning. Everyday things like household noises, walks, or fixed routines are probably unfamiliar to him. With patience, calmness, and clear structures, he will learn to find his way. Small progress is very meaningful for him. A positively working dog training class with experience in dealing with sensitive dogs can support him well. For Henning, we wish for a quiet, stable home with experienced people who can give him security without pressuring him. People who understand that closeness must grow and that trust takes time. An experienced foster home could also be a valuable first step for Henning to learn about life outside the shelter. Henning travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to his new home.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Henning

What life with Henning looks like

Henning is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Henning, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Henning?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Henning on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Henning if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Henning already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Henning isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Henning and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
