Hera

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Adult · 4 years

Gender: female, will be neutered Age: approx. 01.01.2022/2023 Breed: European Shorthair Origin: Switzerland Hera is our absolute heart and soul. She arrived pregnant at the end of March, and it was said that she was half-wild and would return to the farm after raising her kittens. However, she showed a completely different side of herself with us: totally clingy, cuddly, and people-oriented. Her loving nature was further proven when she gave birth to her kittens in mid-April. We rarely had a mother cat as loving and caring as Hera. She flourished in her maternal role and even took in an additional orphaned kitten that was brought to us without its mother. We suspect that Hera has had litters before, as her routines are very well-versed. Nevertheless, we have promised her that she will never again be used as a breeding machine, so she will also be neutered soon! Of course, Hera's five kittens have already attracted countless interested parties, and it's time for them to be seen. In early July, when the kittens are 12 weeks old, they will move out, and then Hera should also be allowed to join her new family, so she doesn't have to stay alone. The charming female cat wishes to be with someone who has a lot of space at home and can spend time with her. She can also be part of a family with children, as long as they can give her some peace when she wants it. Additionally, after the adjustment period, she needs to be allowed back into the outdoors, in a rural area. She gets along well with other cats, as she lived on the farm with several fellow animals. If you would like to give the loving kitten a new family, make sure to include your vacation plans, as she should be able to move out around July 8th. We can promise you this: with Hera, you get more than just a lottery win of the 6er 😊 Please read the following information sheet carefully first to familiarize yourself with the needs of the respective animal species. If interested, fill out the application form and send it to . Please apply only if you are ready for adoption at a moment's notice, so not if you have upcoming vacations, a move, or similar plans. We want to ensure that our shelter animals don't stay longer than necessary. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Hera

What life with Hera looks like

Hera is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli in Switzerland.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
