Adopt Hugo

Male · Adult · 5 years

Energetic Hugo is looking for a home! Hugo is an approximately 2-year-old dog weighing around 16 kg. He is a friendly and energetic dog who loves activity and interaction with people. This young dog has a lot of potential and, with proper guidance, can become an excellent companion. He can walk on a leash, but he pulls, so he will need further training for calm walking. Hugo knows basic commands such as "sit," "stay," and "wait." We are looking for an active home and a caregiver who can properly channel his energy and provide him with enough exercise and mental stimulation. If he gets bored, he may find his own entertainment. Hugo will also require further work on his behavior and proper guidance to fully develop his potential. With patience and consistency, he will surely repay your commitment with joy and happiness in shared life. This description is based on observations of the dog at the animal shelter. Hugo is under the care of OTOZ Animals animal shelter in Tczew. The animal shelter's registration number is 39/26. The male is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered.

Energiczny Hugo szuka domu! Hugo to około 2-letni pies ważący około 16 kg. About Hugo

What life with Hugo looks like

Hugo is a large adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hugo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hugo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hugo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hugo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hugo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hugo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hugo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
