DOG HUGO OK. 7 YEARS (394/23) VACCINATED: YES neutering: YES BOKS: 23 I arrived at the animal shelter in 2023 because my caregiver didn't take care of me. For a long time, it was hard for me to accept my new place, generally the staff and volunteers at the animal shelter were afraid of me. However, after some time, I made friends with a few people who extended a helping hand, and hope began to appear that I could start a path to a new life. It turned out that, beyond my fear of the world, there is a big child inside me who loves to play and tries to involve a human in the fun. Unfortunately, due to neglect in my home, I have problems with walks, the external world sometimes terrifies me, and I would rather hide in my box, but if I have a friendly, supportive person with me, it's not so bad, and I gradually overcome my fears. I don't hide that the best goal of a walk is the yard where I can run wild with toys. Once I get to know someone, I'm a pretty good guy, I like tail-wagging, I let myself be petted, I like to be close to a person, I like water, I walk nicely on a leash, I calmly pass by other dogs and cars. I am a strong dog, I have my own requirements (as every being on this planet), but I think that if someone sees me as a good dog, we will manage to overcome any possible difficulties together. If you want to meet me, I invite you to the animal shelter.

PIES HUGO OK. 7 LAT (394/23) SZCZEPIENIE P. WŚCIEKLIŹNIE: TAK KASTRACJA: TAK BOKS: 23 Trafiłem do schroniska w 2023r, ponieważ mój opiekun o mnie nie dbał. Jeśli chcecie mnie poznać to zapraszam do schroniska. Pozdrawiam, Hugo

About HUGO

What life with HUGO looks like

HUGO is a adult dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting HUGO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about HUGO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw HUGO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt HUGO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is HUGO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if HUGO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know HUGO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
