Adopt Honden ter adoptie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

This cheerful boy is named Hugo. He is a puppy with an estimated birthdate of August 2024. His height at the shoulders is 60 cm. Hugo was found along with his sisters Hera and Netty and his brother Nero near an industrial area in Romania. They had been left there when they were only about two months old - far too young to survive on their own. Fortunately, they were taken in by an animal shelter in Romania and have now all come to the Netherlands. Only Hugo is still looking for his own nice home. Hugo left with good hopes for the Netherlands, ready for a new beginning. Unfortunately, it turned out here that he has HD (hip dysplasia). Also, his elbow on one of his front paws is not quite as it should be, which makes him walk a little limping. Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done about this. Fortunately, he is doing very well now. With daily pain relief and targeted training, his muscles are nicely developed. He runs like the best, plays enthusiastically and is really a happy, lively dog. Of course, his limitations must be taken into account: long walks are not suitable, climbing stairs must be avoided and jumping in and out of the car is not allowed. But within these limits, Hugo enjoys life to the fullest. What kind of dog is Hugo? Hugo is a wonderful, cheerful and playful dog. 🐶 Plays with every dog and finds them all lovely 🏃‍♂️ Likes running and playing together 🌊 Likes swimming 🤗 Loves people and real cuddle sessions 🧸 Likes playing with toys and can amuse himself well 🧠 Is smart and learns quickly He is used to living in a house, is toilet trained, walks nicely on a leash, doesn't destroy anything and can be left alone at home for a while. Hugo can also get along with cats. Hugo is rightly one of the kindest and most sociable dogs we know.

About Honden ter adoptie

What life with Honden ter adoptie looks like

Honden ter adoptie is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SOS Dogs Nederland in NN Didam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Hip dysplasia (HD) and elbow dysplasia causing slight lamping. Requires daily pain medication, muscle-building exercises, no long walks, no stairs, no jumping in/out of cars.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Honden ter adoptie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Honden ter adoptie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SOS Dogs Nederland handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Honden ter adoptie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Honden ter adoptie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SOS Dogs Nederland will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Honden ter adoptie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Honden ter adoptie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SOS Dogs Nederland early rather than rehoming privately; they know Honden ter adoptie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
