Hund Anton

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Anton was born in Bosnia in early 2012. Hunters shot all the dogs living in the village at that time. Anton and another puppy survived and were saved by animal welfare workers from the association "SAPA Bosnia – Patenschaften und Notfälle – Tiere von Sapa Zenica". They were brought to Zenica, a city that was still safe for stray dogs at the time. Anton was then fattened up and lived on the streets ever since. However, at some point, the dogs in Zenica began to be caught. They were brought to accommodations where no one had access, and were shot there. This is how we decided to take Anton in. Anton is very alert and curious. Nothing escapes his watchful gaze. Cars, postmen, and passersby—everyone gets his attention. But this doesn't mean he is always friendly in contact. On the contrary, Anton is incredibly cuddly and always wants attention. Sometimes he even tries to climb onto someone's lap to lick their whole face. By the way, Anton is also a very special gourmet. A few years ago, Ruth and Peter received a handmade gift for Christmas. On a large tree stump, among other things, were three small salt dough figures. In an unobserved moment, Anton took the opportunity to gnaw on the shiny (!) figures. We only found out when he was licking his mouth… One of the big ones has taken off his hat. You were the undisputed gentleman among the dogs, always kind, sovereign, and calm in your manner (well, except for your constant barking at the fence, even though there was nothing to see), happy and content… You never fought. You were a wonderful boy whom I miss more than anything! Elli and Gustav are a little lost without you, they miss you as a calming presence… Dear Anton, enjoy yourself in Rainbow Land. You will meet your former pack again: Frau Meda, Herr Mirki, and Ricki. Give them my regards… I am sure we will see each other again someday! Until then, take care, my dear friend! DE·Show original

About Hund Anton

What life with Hund Anton looks like

Hund Anton is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. in Irmenach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hund Anton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hund Anton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hund Anton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hund Anton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hund Anton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hund Anton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hund Anton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
