Moon

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

We were able to bring Mara, the black Irish-Wolf mix female dog, out of the Perrera ResurJA in Linares. Upon arrival in the south at our safe refuge, it became clear that despite her emaciated and slender body, her pregnancy was already well advanced. Shortly thereafter, Mara gave birth to six healthy puppies—some of whom can even be described as giant puppies (Brecher). All the puppies are healthy and lively, still nursing from their mother, and remarkably calm and composed. The gentle mother is proud and not yet annoyed by her giant offspring. It’s possible that several fathers were involved, as there are some daintier, smaller puppies alongside noticeably large ones; we suspect that a Mastín Español might also have contributed to the giant puppies. The puppies are currently just under 1.5 months old and will be ready for adoption at around 5 months old (July 2026). They will travel fully vaccinated (5-way vaccine, rabies), dewormed, flea-treated, microchipped, accompanied by a valid EU pet passport, and transported by land. Puppies are a real commitment and can be quite challenging—every step has to be learned anew, as they’ll need to acquire all the skills necessary for life here in Germany. We’re looking for adopters or families who will treat these puppies with care and provide them with a safe, responsible home. Puppies whose mothers are known but whose fathers remain completely unknown are “surprise eggs.” If you’d like to offer Moon a loving home, please send us your completed self-disclosure form. The adoption fee is €500.

About Moon

What life with Moon looks like

Moon is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Moon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Moon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Moon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Moon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Moon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Moon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierfreunde im Fläming e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Moon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
