Hund Valentino

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 2 months

Valentino was born around 2007 and lived on the Tierlebenshof since September 16, 2012. Thus, he belonged to the numerically few younger residents of the farm. If one were to play "fun Rasseraten" with him, most candidates would likely guess "Teddybär" first. With this in mind, he has quite a lot of resemblance. Many who see him feel the urge to cuddle him. Valentino lived with an older gentleman before moving to the farm, who unfortunately had to go to the hospital and then to a nursing home. Valentino was left alone. No one could or wanted to take the big Valentino in. Additionally, Valentino is leishmaniasis-positive. A friend brought him to us so that he wouldn’t have to go to an animal shelter. Valentino quickly adapted to life on the farm and immediately chose Peter as his new primary caregiver. What could one say about Valentino? He was entirely different from all the other dogs who lived or had lived here. It’s hard to describe. His gaze spoke volumes. A small anecdote: We had to go to the optometrist and took Valentino with us to the store. When the salesperson greeted us, Valentino responded with his typical "woowoowoo." Valentino came to us with quite a bit of excess weight. We tried to fight against it. The various diet measures also showed some initial success. In November 2019, Valentino moved to the rainbow land at the age of around 12 years. He had been ill for a long time, and for the past two months, he had been at the vet every other day. His blood tests were getting worse, his liver was no longer working properly, and he suffered from severe back problems. We fought, but unfortunately, we lost. Where he was always the most fond of – on the back seat of the car – he was put to sleep. "Dear Valentino, that you were a very special dog, you always knew exactly what to do! Here on the farm, you found your great love in Peter! Only he counted for you. I will never forget your horrified look when I was actually in the car during a drive. You would much rather have driven with your Peter alone. I was the woman responsible for the food, but otherwise, only your friend Peter counted. I never held that against you. It was precisely this loyalty that made you so special. With all my heart, I wish you that you are well wherever you are! Someday, you will see your friend Peter and me again. Until then, take care, my bear!"

Was sollte man zu Valentino sagen?

About Hund Valentino

What life with Hund Valentino looks like

Hund Valentino is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. in Irmenach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hund Valentino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hund Valentino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hund Valentino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hund Valentino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hund Valentino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hund Valentino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierlebenshof Hunsrück-Mosel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hund Valentino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
