Ivi

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Ivi could finally be rehomed in May 2018 thanks to tierisch tierisch. In the office, she keeps her mistress company and they enjoy their free time together… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………. I am female, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and born around 2015. I am about 30 cm tall. I have been waiting since November 2017 for a home. My caretakers say about me: Ivi is the adoption of a friendly association in Germany, originally she was an imported dog. According to current findings, I am in good health. Ivi is initially cautious but warms up quickly and then is loving and cuddly. At the moment, Ivi lives with the pack, and with the dog colleagues, there is a lot of play, and the most important thing is to be alert if someone approaches. Behind the fence, one can bang the drum well. She enjoys the company of other dogs as much as that of people. She greets everyone friendly and is always happy when it's time for a walk. She should still learn a bit of self-confidence and courage, for when she has gained trust, she will surely do her best. With consistency, one can also accustom the princess to other animals, she has a rather delicate nature. The social contact should be enabled in dog training classes and in dog groups to let her have free play and to practice obedience in the presence of other dogs. During a walk, she passes by other animals calmly, but alone without other dogs must be trained under certain circumstances. Ivi is clearly looking for a two-legged companion who is at least as lively, curious, spontaneous, and adventurous as she is. A second dog that is already present would perfect the happiness in the new home, but is not a condition. The same applies to the house and property; if it is there, it would be great, but it is not strictly necessary with adequate provision. Ivi would be delighted to be part of it… we are convinced that after getting used to her, Ivi will be an absolute unobtrusive and well-mannered companion for the new owners. As she has never had her own home before, she needs people who will teach her the world and cohabitation consistently and with love. She would be happy in a family with children of the appropriate age and under the appropriate supervision and guidance of adults. Ivi is an ideal beginner dog for people who will definitely bring a lot of joy, fun, and a huge pile of cuddle needs into the new home… Who would like to give the delicate and affectionate Ivi a chance at her own home and finally a sofa spot?

About Ivi

What life with Ivi looks like

Ivi is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
