Jack

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

JACK deserves a new life! Jack was an apartment cat. One day he found himself outside alone. He wasn't part of the move. He stayed at the bottom of his building. He waited. For 4 years... At first the residents took care of him, they gave him pets because he is very sociable and always seeking contact. Except that over time, Jack became less beautiful. Injuries everywhere from fights with other males, fleas, lice, hair loss related to that... Jack was scary and no one dared to touch him so they started chasing him. And then he found himself truly alone. But also sick and tired. Today he is warm. He is being cared for. And happy to have attention again. The first days, he only slept. But now he is about 6 or 7 years old, black and FIV positive. Clearly the kind of cat that nobody wants but we still try! So here it is, Jack is here. He is ready to start a new life with a new family. But a good one this time. He would be happy to be the only cat in the house because he gets attacked a lot by others. And especially a little patch of grass to sleep in the sun. He is okay with children. He is clean and calm. Identified, neutered, vaccinated. Adoption fee 100€. Visible in Le Havre.

About Jack

What life with Jack looks like

Jack is a small adult mixed breed cat waiting at La Patte Normande in Bolleville.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jack, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jack?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. La Patte Normande handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jack on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jack if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — La Patte Normande will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jack already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jack isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with La Patte Normande early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jack and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
