Adopt Jackie

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

Jackie – blind female dog looking for her people Country of origin (= current country of residence): Switzerland Country of birth: Bulgaria Weight: currently approx. 12 kg Hello big world out there! My name is Jackie, and just a few days ago, I was able to travel to Switzerland with my siblings from Bulgaria. In Bulgaria, we were found in the woods with our mom when we were still very tiny. Since then, we’ve been raised at the local animal shelter and, unfortunately, haven’t had the chance to learn or experience much. Now that we’re in Switzerland, we’re all hoping to find loving homes. At first, I’m still a bit reserved, but unlike my siblings, I’m actually very brave and quickly adapt to new situations. That’s quite remarkable, considering I have eye problems and likely can’t see anything—or at most, only very little. Right now, I receive eye ointment twice a day to keep my eyes moisturized. The exact cause of my visual impairment is still being investigated. My disability doesn’t bother me at all—I get along great overall and confidently find my way around independently. Of course, I might occasionally bump into walls or objects, but that’s no big deal. Naturally, I’d also love to attend dog training classes to learn the basics of being a good dog. I’m generally very eager to learn and food-motivated, which makes training me super easy! I’m currently getting slowly acquainted with walking on a leash. I’m looking for people who won’t be bothered by my limitation and will accept me just as I am. I’d definitely appreciate having a friendly second dog around too—someone who could help me orient myself and enjoys playing with me. Before proceeding, please carefully read the information sheet below to familiarize yourself with the specific needs of this animal. If you’re interested, please fill out the application form and send it to . Important: Please apply only if you’re ready to adopt soon—don’t apply if you have upcoming vacations, a move, or similar plans. We want to avoid keeping our charges at the animal shelter any longer than absolutely necessary.

Jackie - blinde Hündin sucht ihre Menschen Herkunftsland (=aktuelles Aufenthaltsland): Schweiz Zuchtland (=Geburtsland): Bulgarien Gewicht: aktuell ca. 12kg Hallo grosse Welt da draussen. About Jackie

What life with Jackie looks like

Jackie is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli in Switzerland.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jackie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jackie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jackie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jackie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jackie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jackie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tierpension Strubeli early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jackie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
