Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Jacob is a young dog who has made an impressive transformation over the past few weeks. Not long ago, no one could touch him without him screaming in fear. Today, he leans into his trusted caregivers, enjoys being petted, and actively seeks out the company of people he trusts. Witnessing how he becomes just a little bit braver each day is truly special. Jacob was found completely alone by the side of the road. He was severely emaciated, dehydrated, and suffering from demodicosis, which was immediately treated by a veterinarian. Meanwhile, he has recovered splendidly and is ready for the next step—a loving home of his own. Jacob is playful, curious, and loves other dogs. He spends hours romping and playing with his two foster siblings. He happily looks to them for guidance and learns incredibly quickly. At first, he still approaches unfamiliar people with caution and may bark out of uncertainty. However, if you give him a little time, he quickly realizes that nothing bad will happen to him and reveals his cheerful, cuddly side. We can’t yet say whether Jacob knows cats. At just a few months old, Jacob is still right in the middle of his development. Puberty is just beginning, bringing with it an exciting phase during which some of what he’s already learned may be questioned once again. At the same time, there’s much more for him to experience—the life inside a home, various everyday situations, visits, car rides, or walks in new environments. With patience, loving consistency, and the support of a positive dog training school, Jacob will master all of this step by step. For Jacob, we’d like to find a calm home with people who will give him the time he needs to continue building trust. An experienced first dog could help him get off to a smooth start, as he greatly looks up to other dogs and loves their company. Jacob is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered. He travels with an EU pet passport and will be placed in a home after a positive pre-check, signing a protection contract, and paying a protection fee. Many thanks to his sponsor, Marion G., who gave Jacob his name—and with it, a piece of identity. As of July 18, 2026 Further information on the topics of pre-check and protection fee

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Jacob

What life with Jacob looks like

Jacob is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jacob, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jacob?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jacob on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jacob if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jacob already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jacob isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jacob and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
