Jip twee

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 4 years

Hi, I'm Jip and I'm 5 years old. They call me at the animal shelter Jip twee, a bit quirky, I suppose. Apparently, there was already another Jip, and when I arrived, I immediately got number 2 slapped on my head. Well, that's just great… Fortunately, they're pretty okay here, and you'll often find me sitting in the outdoor run. I find it lovely to go out on my own and can't wait to be able to run around freely outside again. A cat flap is a must for me too; I really want to be able to go in and out all day. That's also necessary, so I can get rid of my energy. If I can't, I might be a bit of a nuisance. I can give you a tap or hang from your legs. And negative attention is still attention, so if I just happen to knock over that pesky vase when it's not allowed, I'll probably get some food. I'm pretty independent and not a cuddly cat; a pat on my head is more than enough. Still, I like to be near the boss and don't enjoy being alone at home all day. Playing together is something I cherish, and at night, I like to snuggle up to your feet. I also play with water and love running water. Drinking from the tap isn't strange to me. I'm on a bladder diet and have patella luxation. I don't have any issues with that now. Maybe arthritis could develop in my hind legs later.

About Jip twee

What life with Jip twee looks like

Jip twee is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden in Leiden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jip twee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jip twee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jip twee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jip twee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jip twee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jip twee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierentehuis Stevenshage Leiden early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jip twee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
