Adopt Jolie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Can we find a beautiful home for Jolie once again? 2014 was the year of Jolie. As a little puppy, she was taken in and thus had the chance to grow up with Animal Protection into a healthy and happy dog. And it got even better. A few months later, she found her lifelong person in an older lady. Many happy years followed and Jolie accompanied her owner every day, no matter what came. But sometimes happiness does not last forever and there are situations in life that no one can foresee. Recently, Jolie's owner became seriously ill and can no longer take care of herself and Jolie. She had to move into a nursing home, which Jolie unfortunately cannot join. Now Jolie is back at the animal shelter of Animal Protection, doesn't yet know what will happen to her, and is eagerly waiting for a second chance in a family, because the animal shelter should not be the end for this healthy and active female dog. Since Jolie has spent many years with her owner, she knows and loves living in a house. The idea of exchanging her dog bed for a collar doghouse is a real shock for her. She was used to focusing on one person and this was naturally mutual. Jolie lived the life of a little princess who received a lot of attention and love. She would also like to receive this in her new home. Jolie gets along very well with other dogs and enjoys playing with them, but at home she would prefer to be the only dog and not have to share her affection. She behaves very well indoors, is house-trained and walks well on a leash. According to her nature, she is very active and sporty. She loves long walks, sniffing in tall grass or playing in the garden. You can't really tell her age. At just under nine years old, Jolie certainly is not a relic. She still has some hopefully wonderful years ahead of her that she would like to spend with her humans, because humans are her greatest friends. Her new family will get a true lifelong partner with Jolie. She wants to be involved a lot and do things. Since she knows and loves living together, Jolie will quickly adapt. We sincerely hope she will find a suitable home soon, because she does not like life at the animal shelter.

About Jolie

What life with Jolie looks like

Jolie is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jolie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jolie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jolie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jolie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jolie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jolie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jolie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
