Adopt Joschi

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Core immunization + rabies Joschi seeks his forever home Joschi is an approximately 1-year-old, neutered male dog with a shoulder height of 63 cm and a weight of 24.5 kg. Of course, he is vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to start his new life. Currently, Joschi lives on his foster home in 38350 Helmstedt together with three other dogs and a cat. He gets along well with the dogs – the cat, on the other hand, is more of a mystery to him and makes him a bit nervous. Joschi is a small, sensitive soul who needs people who can show him with calmness, patience, and loving consistency that the world isn’t so scary. Once he builds trust, he aligns strongly with his dog buddies and mirrors their behavior: if the other dog is relaxed and friendly, Joschi becomes braver and more open. If his companion yells at him on the leash, Joschi will yell back. Despite his insecurities, Joschi has already made great strides. He even went on a camping trip and handled it with aplomb. During the day, he’s a real lamb – quiet, loving, and uncomplicated. In the evening, he becomes a bit more cautious and keeps an eye on his surroundings. Joschi knows the basic commands, is house-trained, and can be easily directed to his place. He seeks people with dog experience or a secure only-dog home who can give him the necessary security and continue to lovingly guide him through life. Who will give this special boy the chance at a understanding home and show him how wonderful a dog life can be?

About Joschi

What life with Joschi looks like

Joschi is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Joschi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Joschi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Joschi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Joschi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Joschi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Joschi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Joschi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
