Adopt Josh

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

August 20, 2024: Two of our team members made a spontaneous trip to Sardinia in mid-August to personally get to know and photograph our shelter animals. They also visited Jada, Jake, Jane, Jinny, Josh, and Jude. The little wonder puppies have since grown into wonderfully cute young dogs. All of them are very open, playful, and cuddly. They have a charming nature and will surely bring a lot of joy to their families. We hope they can travel to Germany soon. Would you like to help one of the puppy children start a new, happy life? November 6, 2024: In mid-October 2024, we went on another team tour. For four days, we were accompanied by engaged team members who wanted to meet or see our partners and dogs and cats. One of our stops was the Rifugio of LIDA, where there were several new arrivals in addition to already known animals. Again, we visited the two brothers Jake and Josh, who no longer share their enclosure with their siblings Jane, Jada, and Jude. We were greeted very enthusiastically by the two, and the space barely held their joyfully spun rounds. Since the last visit, the pretty young male dogs have of course grown. They have maintained their openness and friendliness, which we are very happy about. Unfortunately, only the female dog Jinny from the litter of six siblings managed to make the leap into a foster family in Germany. There, she shows herself as a wonderful, open, and cuddly Fellenase. Jake and Josh also could not get enough of our cuddles and were very happy about our affection. We hope very much that Jake and Josh as well as Jane, Jada, and Jude will at least find a place on foster lists in Germany so that the young dogs have a chance at a loving home. August 31, 2025: A team colleague and her daughter are sacrificing part of their vacation time to personally meet or see some of our shelter animals. In this way, we learn firsthand how our shelter animals have developed. So too with the three siblings Jake, Josh, and Jude. The three siblings are very open, contact-seeking, and friendly – and their unique, individual fur coloration makes each of them a real looker. Josh had fun in the water bowl, Jake proudly showed how well-behaved he already is at giving paws, and Jude would have liked to climb right onto someone's lap. From their two siblings Jane and Jada, who already live in Germany, we also hear only positive things: They have developed into great family dogs. We are sure that Jake, Josh, and Jude will also take this path. Would you like to give Jake, Josh, or Jude the chance at a loving home? If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only a lot of joy but also a lot of work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We place animals throughout the country.

About Josh

What life with Josh looks like

Josh is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josh, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josh?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josh on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josh if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josh already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josh isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josh and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
