Juanita

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Juanita was given up together with her two brothers Juan and José by animal welfare workers:innen at our Spanish partner shelter. We know nothing about the background of the three dogs. The siblings at the animal shelter show very anxious behavior and are still in a constant flight mode. Juanita and her two brothers seem to have hardly experienced any human closeness and contact so far. The anxious Juanita should be allowed to move into a loving home as soon as possible. Her future home should have experience with anxious dogs. Juanita should be in a calm environment – preferably in the countryside – in her future home. The female dog needs stable daily structures that can provide her with security and stability. All this can not be offered by the animal shelter environment of the female dog. In her previous life, Juanita has not yet learned much. Her future home should accompany her at each step of her development positively and lovingly. Juanita wants to grow into a completely new dog world with the support of her people. We wish a home with a securely fenced garden and dog companionship for the female dog. They want to open the doors to an anxiety-free life for Juanita and accompany her into a shared future. If you have serious interest in adopting Juanita, please contact the responsible mediator. We would also be very happy about the provision of a foster home. The adoption of a shelter dog always means taking on a special responsibility and can also be a challenge. The dogs bring a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations with them and need time to adjust to their new life.

About Juanita

What life with Juanita looks like

Juanita is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Juanita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Juanita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Juanita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Juanita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Juanita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Juanita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Juanita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
