Juno

Mixed Breed · Female

Life was harsh for her and her siblings from the very first days. They contracted feline panleukopenia, a disease that most adult cats can cope with quite well, but it's more serious for very young kittens. Fortunately, Juno managed to fight off the illness and recover. Unfortunately, her two siblings died at the vet... Juno didn't enjoy good health for very long, and one problem followed another... Juno developed a very severe gum inflammation. Her gums were terribly red and sensitive. Therefore, the doctor prescribed a special gel that now is applied twice daily directly onto her gums by the foster mother. She also underwent a thorough cleaning, during which the doctor removed dirt and hardened dental plaque. Unfortunately, this isn't a one-time issue, as Juno suffers from juvenile gingivitis. Therefore, her teeth still require more careful care. Every day, she must be cleaned with a special gel and about every three months, she will need more thorough dental hygiene at the doctor's. If the care is neglected, Juno could lose all her teeth. However, the good news is that according to the doctor, these problems usually subside around the age of 2 years. It's therefore not something that will affect Juno for her entire life. In the meantime, Juno has gradually become accustomed to her new temporary care found with the family of our former foster animals Alvin and Aurora. The princess was initially very shy and had to learn to trust people. After spending the first few days hiding under the bed, she gradually started spending more and more time by their side, observing and later occasionally playing and cuddling. Now she is an outright bed princess, who just needs to be touched and she immediately rolls like a small tractor. Juno developed an ulcer on her eye, which needed to be treated with antibiotics. According to the doctor, unfortunately, she doesn't produce enough tears, so she will always need to have a moisturizing gel dropped into her eye several times a day. We were already happy that her eye was healed, but unfortunately, the problems returned again. Therefore, we took Juno to consult with an ophthalmologist, MVDr. Beránek. He explained to us that her cornea had only healed superficially. Subsequently, it became irritated again by blinking, which led to the recurrence of the problems... Juno therefore received medication to support circulation and immunity. Thanks to this, her eye finally healed. Unfortunately, for a change, the other eye started having problems, so we continue with the treatment.

Zdravý život si Juno bohužel neužívala moc dlouho a jeden problém vystřídal druhý… Juno se rozjel velmi ošklivý zánět dásní. Měla je příšerně zarudlé a citlivé. Pan doktor jí proto předepsal speciální gel, který jí teď dočasné tetičky nanáší dvakrát denně přímo na dásně. Taky podstoupila důkladné čištění, při kterém pan doktor odstranil nečistoty a usazený zubní kámen. Bohužel ale nejde o jednorázový problém, Juno totiž trpí juvenilní gingivitidou. Zoubky proto i dál vyžadují důkladnější péči. Není to tedy nic, co by Juno ovlivnilo celý život.

About Juno

What life with Juno looks like

Juno is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice in Czech Republic.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇿Adopting from Czech Republic

Czech shelters (útulky) include sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID. The adopter signs a written contract (smlouva) — the shelter may follow up to verify wellbeing.

Frequently asked

Adopting Juno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Juno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Juno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Juno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Juno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Juno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Handipet Rescue Hoření Vinice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Juno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (CS). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
