Kai

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Β· Male Β· Puppy Β· 9 months

Kai is the biggest cuddle bug! When it comes to settling down in the evenings, he loves to snuggle up right by your shoulder and shower you with love. Kai has one special toy, β€œBunny”, who is his very best friend and who he would love to introduce you to! He also walks beautifully on the lead, so he would love to explore the big wide world with his new family. Kai is doing great with his toilet training, but while he settles into his new home, he would appreciate a gentle reminder. Kai is a sensitive soul who bonds very quickly with his favourite people, however at just 8 months old, he has plenty of time to grow his confidence in the right home. He hasn’t experienced much of the world yet and relies on the guidance of his owners, but he warms up quickly and is a bundle of energy! He loves playing with calm dog friends who can show him the ropes and could potentially live with another dog, pending a successful meet at the centre. Kai hasn’t been left alone at home before, so this would need to be built up slowly. He travels well in the car, although longer journeys can sometimes make him feel slightly sick. Kai could live with Children secondary school age and older, if they know how to give him respect when he is feeling slightly more nervous.

About Kai

What life with Kai looks like

Kai is a large puppy cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window β€” house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kai, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kai?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kai on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kai if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Kai already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kai isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kai and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
