Monkey

Belgian Malinois · Female · Puppy · 9 months

Monkey could live with sensible secondary school-aged children who are confident around larger, energetic dogs. She may also be able to live with another dog, subject to a successful meet at the centre. Monkey can be a little worried getting into the car, but once she is in, she’s okay. We think the more she goes in the car to exciting places, she will start to get used to it and hopefully enjoy it. Monkey could potentially be left alone but this needs to be built up gradually and only once she is settled. She is looking for a home that understands the breed and is ready to invest the time, patience, and commitment needed to help her grow. She really is a lovely boy who would make a wonderful adventure buddy and would be such an amazing companion. Monkey is a very affectionate 7 month old Malinois cross, she has a very big personality and is looking for an active forever home, in a rural area that has previous experience owning this breed or similar. Monkey is a typical young Mali, so she's full of energy, and loves to stay busy, and is always ready for the next adventure. She is bouncy and playful so would thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, and ongoing training. Monkey is only young so she is still learning about the world and will benefit from owners who are committed to continuing her training using positive, reward-based methods. She's a clever girl who is eager to learn and has lots of potential in the right home.

About Monkey

What life with Monkey looks like

Monkey is a large puppy/kitten belgian malinois dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Monkey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Monkey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Monkey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Monkey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Monkey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Monkey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Monkey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
