Kaju sucht neue Herausforderung

Kaju has been with us at the animal shelter since July 2026. He comes from a rural home and is well-versed in basic commands; he needs consistent and confident guidance to develop excellent leash manners and spatial awareness. He gets along well with female dogs but would prefer to be an only dog—his hunting instinct remains strong, and he’s alert, barks when necessary, and highly territorial. He doesn’t get along with children or other pets. He’s accustomed to wearing a muzzle and is initially wary of strangers, especially men. Kaju is a classic young dog who displays the typical Shepherd-like traits of alertness and independence. He was given up because he didn’t get along with the other dogs already living here. He constantly tests his boundaries, and if he doesn’t receive clear guidance, he tends to make his own decisions—often not the best ones. During encounters with other dogs on the leash, Kaju becomes confrontational if he isn’t given clear limits, so he seeks out people who are physically capable of handling him. With prior bonding and consistent training, Kaju responds well to manipulation and corrections; however, he’s quite open to discussion when he perceives inconsistencies. Once he warms up, Kaju becomes very attached to his people, loves cuddling, and prefers to stay by his primary caregiver’s side at all times. As is typical for German Shepherds, Kaju forms strong bonds and even shows tendencies to defend his human companion—even in the presence of strangers—as long as he’s not relieved of this responsibility. If you establish clear rules from the start and lovingly yet consistently show him which behaviors are desired and which aren’t, Kaju will become an exceptionally attentive and eager-to-learn companion. However, he’s not the quickest thinker and takes a bit of time to translate instructions into actions—so patience is key! ;-) He loves to play around and explore outdoors. Especially mentally, this young male dog would like plenty of stimulation in the future. A canine sport or regular jogging together in his new home would be a dream come true for him. Any introductions to other dogs must always be supervised, as he’s known to be incompatible with male dogs and still shows rather boisterous and inexperienced behavior toward female dogs. Here too, he tests boundaries but accepts corrections well and doesn’t make a big deal out of it. In the home environment, Kaju definitely wants to remain an only dog, as he tends to take up a lot of space even around female dogs. Kaju can already handle being left alone for longer periods, knows how to use his crate, and travels comfortably by car. In training, he demonstrates a high willingness to work and copes well with new and challenging situations alongside his handler. We’re looking for a childless household without other small pets such as cats or rabbits for Kaju. We can imagine him living either in a house with a garden or in an apartment (though he hasn’t experienced the latter yet). His future family should consist of either a single person or a couple with previous dog experience. We’re certain that with consistency, clear rules, and stable routines, Kaju can become the wonderful companion he truly is. Kaju ist seit Juli 2026 bei uns im Tierheim. Aus der – kennt ländliches Zuhause – Grundkommandos gut – braucht Konsequenz und souveräne Anleitung, dann Leinenführigkeit und Orientierung sehr gut – verträglich mit Hündinnen, möchte aber Einzelprinz sein – Jagdtrieb – wachsam, bellt, territorial – keine Kinder oder andere Haustiere – Maulkorbgewöhnt – skeptisch bei Fremden, vor allem bei Männern Kaju ist ein klassischer Junghund und zeigt sich bei uns Schäferhund-typisch wachsam und eigenständig. Er wurde abgegeben, da er sich nicht mit den vorhandenen Hunden verstanden hat. Er testet seine Grenzen aus und wenn er keine Anleitung erhält, entscheidet er selber, wobei meistens eher schlechte Entscheidungen herauskommen. Kaju pöbelt in Hundebegegnungen an der Leine, wenn er keine Grenzen gesetzt bekommt und sucht dementsprechend Menschen, die ihm auch körperlich gewachsen sind. Manipulation und Korrekturen nimmt er bei vorangehender Bindung und Konsequenz gut an, reagiert bei Unverhältnismäßigkeiten aber durchaus diskussionsbereit. Einmal aufgetaut, ist Kaju seinen Menschen sehr zugetan, kuschelt gerne und ist am liebsten immer an der Seite seiner Bezugsperson. Schäferhund-typisch bindet sich Kaju stark und zeigt durchaus Tendenzen seine Bezugsperson auch im Kontakt mit Fremden zu verteidigen, solange ihm diese Aufgabe nicht abgenommen wird. Wenn man ihm von Vornherein klare Regeln gibt und ihm liebevoll, aber konsequent zeigt, welches Verhalten erwünscht und welches unerwünscht ist, ist er ein sehr aufmerksamer und lernwilliger Begleiter. Allerdings ist er nicht der schnellste Denker und braucht ein bisschen, um Anleitung in Taten umzusetzen – es ist also Geduld gefragt. ;-) Er liebt es, Quatsch zu machen und draußen zu erkunden. Besonders im Kopf möchte der junge Rüde zukünftig noch viel gefordert werden. Ein Hundesport oder gemeinsames Joggen im neuen Zuhause wären ein Träumchen für ihn. Die Zusammenführungen mit Artgenossen müssen in jedem Fall begleitet werden, da eine Unverträglichkeit mit Rüden bekannt ist und er sich mit Hündinnen noch sehr ungestüm und unerfahren zeigt. Er testet auch hier Grenzen, nimmt Korrekturen aber auch gut an und macht kein Fass auf. Im häuslichen Bereich möchte Kaju auf jeden Fall ein Einzelhund bleiben, da er hier auch gegenüber Hündinnen viel Raum einnimmt. Kaju kann bereits gut alleine bleiben, kennt die Box und fährt ohne Probleme Auto. Im Training zeigt er einen hohen Arbeitswillen und hält mit seiner Person auch neue und schwierige Situationen gut aus. Für Kaju suchen wir einen kinderlosen Haushalt ohne andere kleine Haustiere wie Katzen oder Kaninchen. Wir können ihn uns sowohl mit Haus und Garten, als auch in einer Wohnung vorstellen (letzteres kennt er allerdings noch nicht). Seine Familie sollte eine Einzelperson oder ein Pärchen sein mit Hundeerfahrung. Wir sind uns sicher, dass Kaju mit Konsequenz, Regeln und festen Strukturen der tolle Begleiter sein kann, der in ihm steckt.
