Kalimera

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Kalimera has found her home! Her story: Kalimera originally had a family in Romania. When it was time for the spaying and the family took her to the vet, it unfortunately turned out that she had FIP. She underwent 84 days of treatment, which Kalimera bravely endured. She is now healthy and lively! So the nightmare is over. Her family wanted to put her down due to the diagnosis. They gave up Kalimera and never followed up. She is now waiting in our cat room for her second chance! Kalimeras survival battle was over a year ago, and it's high time she finds her home. Kalimera has an extremely friendly, affectionate personality and enjoys being in the company of humans. She loves to snuggle and adores any form of attention. She gets along well with other cats in general but can get easily irritated by them. With fellow animals that are more laid-back, like Kalimera, she gets along well. She has no interest in others. We would also be happy to place Kalimera as a singleton princess. As an outdoor cat, we do not see Kalimera. Kalimera travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She has also tested negative for FIV and FeLV. She has an EU pet passport in her carrier and can travel after a positive health check. Do you have a cuddle spot free for the brave warrior Kalimera, who has already endured so much in her first year of life? We are very looking forward to your inquiry. Many thanks, Malina W., you gave Kalimera her name. A big thank you also goes to Manuela S., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Kalimera. As of 13.05. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Stand: 13.05.2024

About Kalimera

What life with Kalimera looks like

Kalimera is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalimera, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalimera?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalimera on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalimera if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalimera already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalimera isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalimera and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
