Kalina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 7 years

Country of origin: Hungary. This wonderfully beautiful dog is named Kalina. Kalina was incredibly lucky—she was found on September 28, 2025, on the street in Felsöcsalanos and reported to the shelter. It’s hard to imagine what could have happened to her. We don’t know whether she was cowardly abandoned there or if she wandered into this dangerous place all by herself. What we do know is that Kalina wasn’t chipped, and no one had reported her missing. She was—and still is—very thin and needs to gain weight. Kalina is now patiently and eagerly waiting for her life to soon take a positive turn and for her to find loving people who will give her a wonderful forever home. Kalina is a sweet and friendly dog who was initially a bit shy and insecure but is now becoming more and more confident and growing increasingly curious every day. She gratefully accepts any attention and affection she receives. We wish for her people who will love her unconditionally, provide her with plenty of care and security, offer her a safe, soft sleeping spot, and to whom she can wholeheartedly give her trust and love. Kalina still has some learning to do, and her people should enjoy teaching her lovingly everything she doesn’t yet know. She already does great on the leash, though there’s certainly room for improvement. She’d be delighted by dog-friendly activities and many wonderful shared experiences with her two-legged companions. Kalina has no problems getting along with other dogs and is currently (October 30, 2025) being integrated into a mixed pack. For our dearest Kalina, we’re looking for loving and patient dog lovers who can finally show her the sunny side of life. Understanding people who can help Kalina make up for all she’s missed and show her what it feels like to have her own caring home—with her own food bowl, a soft bed, and her very own people who’ll spoil her with lots of cuddles, exciting walks, and full family integration. Kalina brings a lot of love with her to her new home. Update from July 23, 2026: When she first arrived, Kalina was still quite fearful, so she took part in a socialization training program. Meanwhile, she’s become one of the most popular dogs at the playground and has made many friendships with both the mentors and mentees. She fully trusts people now and is no longer afraid of them. She attentively greets each person individually, actively seeks their company, asks for petting, and loves giving kisses. She’s affectionate, eager for human contact, and highly people-oriented; she also gets along well with older children, and she shows openness toward all people who treat her with respect and kindness. At the playground, she appears cheerful, balanced, and attentive. She gets along well with her kennel mates, especially playing and running joyfully with one particular companion. She tends toward mild dominance, but this is easily manageable. On the leash, she’s completely easy to handle. At seven and a half years old, Kalina shouldn’t have to wait much longer for her own family. We wish her a loving and responsible home that offers her security, comfort, and a firm place within the family. Kalina is ready to travel.

About Kalina

What life with Kalina looks like

Kalina is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kalina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kalina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kalina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kalina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kalina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kalina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kalina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
