adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this cat! Karla provides mediation assistance! For Karla, we offer mediation assistance! If interested, contact Angelika S. E-Mail address: Karla is an approximately 5-year-old, neutered female cat with a special personality. She currently lives in Rheinbach in a quiet single-family home with a garden and wishes for a future loving home with a yard and a relatively quiet environment. Karla originally came from a cat shelter near Altenahr and initially arrived very timid and shy in her current home. She is still cautious around strangers and prefers to retreat when visitors come. However, she has built great trust with her trusted people. She is now very cuddly, actively seeks closeness, and demands cuddles in the house. When called, she often runs right up, lies on the sofa, and enjoys attention. Additionally, she likes to tell stories and is generally a quiet, uncomplicated roommate in everyday life. Karla spends her time outside in the garden most of the time. She usually stays close to the house and likes to lie in her bed on the covered terrace. With patience and trust, she now allows her primary caregiver to pick her up. Karla is microchipped, regularly dewormed, and currently in good health. She does not require any medication. Due to her earlier timidity, vaccinations could not be administered recently, but this should be done soon. Unfortunately, Karla does not get along with the dog living in the household. This situation causes stress for all involved, so a new permanent, loving home is sought for her. A permanent, loving place in a private home with a yard is sought, preferably with patient people who can give her the time to build trust. Anyone who wants to give Karla this chance will receive a sensitive, loyal, and very lovable cat. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Karla

What life with Karla looks like

Karla is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Karla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Karla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Karla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Karla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Karla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Karla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Karla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
