Kasztanka

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

My name is Kasztanka and I am just beginning to find my home. Not long ago, I had to manage on my own. I know I was a mother, but what happened afterwards, I would rather leave behind and move forward. There is still some fear in me, but there is no aggression. Over time, I stopped being a dog cowering in the corner of the cage and I now look at the world with more curiosity. I feel safest in places I already know - new spaces can still scare me - but each day I make more progress. I am getting to like walks and I handle the leash quite well. I treat my resting place as a sanctuary - that's where I rest best and gather my strength. I am slowly learning about people. Previously, they were not needed for anything, but now I am beginning to understand that they can be good. Petting is not yet my favorite form of closeness, but I already know that a human hand does not do harm, and a person can take care of and feed me. There is still some work ahead of me before I fully trust, but I believe that by the side of my person I will gain confidence. I weigh about 3-4 kg, I am about 3 years old and I am spayed.

PL·Show original

Ważę około 3–4 kg, mam około 3 lat i jestem wykastrowana.

About Kasztanka

What life with Kasztanka looks like

Kasztanka is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at GRUPA RATUJ Wrocław in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kasztanka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kasztanka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. GRUPA RATUJ Wrocław handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kasztanka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kasztanka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — GRUPA RATUJ Wrocław will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kasztanka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kasztanka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with GRUPA RATUJ Wrocław early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kasztanka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
