adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Kaya will travel directly to your final destination! Your story: The name Kaya has many meanings around the world – one that the animal welfare organization currently likes best is when we think of the first few weeks of our little puppy mouse Kaya, where we can only imagine so much. In Zulu, an African language, Kaya means "home." This fragile puppy soul, who is just 8 weeks old, more than deserves it, as she and her siblings were discovered and saved in a trash can. Currently, she is at a foster home in Romania, where our fantastic animal welfare worker Stefan is nurturing and caring for her. With a high probability, Kaya will grow into a medium to large female dog and will need a home that can provide her with appropriate movement opportunities. But for now, it's all about learning the puppy ABC. Additionally, puberty will knock on the door in a few months. As is often the case during this phase, previously learned commands will likely become mixed up. Kaya will probably appear a bit rebellious and lively, but don't panic: once puberty is over, Kaya, grown and reliable, will be a beautiful, caramel-colored dream companion. Would you like – perhaps with your family and a confident first dog – to give the sweet, friendly Kaya a nice home? She should never again remember the harsh darkness of a trash can and instead be allowed to curl up in her own cozy bed. Kay's mini suitcase is packed. She would of course also be overjoyed to go to a foster home. This female dog will be rehomed together with the organization Arme Hundeseelen Rumänien. The double posting on both organization sides and possibly on advertising portals serves to increase her visibility and find her the right home faster. With the organization, there is a close exchange. Every inquiry for the female dog is directly discussed and passed on. We thank Bianca very warmly. You have given the little Kaya a very beautiful and meaningful name and thus the hope of love and security. Status: 29.11. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 29.11.2025

About Kaya

What life with Kaya looks like

Kaya is a very small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kaya, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kaya?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kaya on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kaya if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kaya already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kaya isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kaya and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
