Adopt Kean

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Native Country: Hungary The lovable Kean was found wandering alone in the city of Nagykörös on July 1, 2025, and reported to the our shelter. Fortunately, he was relatively easy to catch and brought to the animal shelter, thus ensuring his safety. During the microchip check, they unfortunately came up empty, and no one claimed Kean. This is the name he received at the shelter when he was reported missing. It’s unclear to us, but it seems to be a second chance for Kean to live a happy life where he is loved, respected, and cherished. Our fingers are crossed. Kean was initially very shy and reserved but always friendly and kind. We don’t know what he experienced, likely not much that was good, and the shelter situation is helping. Employee Anna took him under her wing, and gradually Kean is warming up. It’s lovely to see that he’s still willing to trust humans, given time, step by step toward a new life. He enjoys getting cuddles and receiving attention and affection, something he didn’t know from his past. The first few minutes are still a bit shy, but he builds trust when he realizes you mean him well. Walking on a leash is going well, but practice makes the man, and Kean is a willing learner if you trust him. He also needs to learn a few things from the puppy school and various other things with his new two-legged family. Kean gets along well with his fellow animals, and a confident second dog in the new family, one he can look up to, would certainly be a great help for him to settle into his new life more easily. For our charming Kean, we are looking for dog-loving, understanding, and loving people who will give him time to adjust and let him set his own pace. Dear two-leggeds, who will take Kean in as a full-fledged family member, challenge him dog-appropriately, spoil him with lots of cuddles, and give him all the love, care, security, and safety that he likely hasn’t experienced before. Kean wants to make up for lost time, explore the big, wide world, and spend many beautiful hours with his people. Whom should Kean give his heart to? On September 3, 2025, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Kean came to the animal shelter in July 2025 and participated in a socialization training. We were able to meet him at a mentor day on the animal shelter playground. His mentor treated him to a nice walk, which went very well. The situation was still unfamiliar to him: the foreign environment, the new circumstances, and the new people. But with each walk, week by week, he is becoming more secure and better. The more he gets to know his mentor, the more his trust grows. Kean already gratefully accepted cuddles and encouraging words. He started his walk together with his pen pal, with whom he lives at the animal shelter. He can also be introduced to an existing dog in the new home." Due to the health reasons of the owner, Kean is seeking a new home.

About Kean

What life with Kean looks like

Kean is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kean, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kean?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kean on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kean if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kean already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kean isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kean and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
