Kimba

Male · Young · 1 year

From Kimba much has been asked in the last weeks, but he is simply a through and through fine fellow who deserves all the happiness in the world. His former owners came to us in March with Kimba because they could not afford the urgently needed operation, as Kimba had fallen two days prior from the balcony on the fourth floor and had broken both hind legs. We took in Kimba and brought him to an animal clinic where he was admitted and operated on the following day. Kimba is young, brave, and was already on his feet and back at the animal shelter two days later. However, until June, he had to rest in a kennel to allow his legs to heal. During this time, he was always sweet and happy to engage with us or to sniff another cat. Now, Kimba has finally made it and greets us from the window in the cat house. There, he has more space, contact with fellow animals, is stroked and groomed – now, only his own family is missing, in which all of this will never be lacking again for him. Even though he already looks like a big tomcat, Kimba is also still a kitten who can barely contain his curiosity and playfulness. He loves other cats and should also have a four-legged playmate in his future home. Of course, his people’s attention should not be lacking either. We do not know if he knows and likes children, but we can easily imagine it. We are placing the young, lively tomcat in a quiet outdoor run. To our knowledge, he is only suitable for apartment living, but he shows a great interest in everything that happens outside. Although Kimba has survived his fall and the long convalescence, his treatment is not yet complete. In about four months, around the beginning of October, the metal plates used to set his leg fractures will need to be removed. Of course, we wish for Kimba to spend this time with his new family. We are happy to advise you on this. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Kimba

What life with Kimba looks like

Kimba is a large young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kimba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kimba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kimba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kimba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kimba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kimba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kimba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
